Started in the front room of a private home in Jerusalem's Bayit Vegan neighborhood, with a handful of young women, it has burgeoned into a network of schools that spread accross the impressive Har Nof campus, looking over the Jerusalem hills. Neve's teachers with Rabbi Dovid Refson at it's helm, have the unique ability to mold young women into happy, healthy minded, sincere Jews from all levels of Jewish observance and knowledge. Rebbitzen Heller, through her teaching at Neve, has had the merit of befriending, teaching and positively influencing many thousands of students over the last 25 years. Her unique ability to peak the imagination of the enquiring mind coupled with her sincere wish to impart Judaism in all it's facets, has made her a sought after speaker outside the holy walls of the Campus, as far a field as South Africa, the UK, communities accross the USA and wherever a Jewish English speaking community exists. |
APPEAL FROM THE DEAN, Rabbi Dovid Refson
My hakaras hatov to our Neve Yerushalayim alumnae and friends is unbounding. All of this through the great bracha and assistance of Hashem. At this precarious moment in Jewish history, where young Jewish women are more distant than ever from their Jewish heritage, we must act forcefully to save them. Sadly, there are more than ever of these young, impressionable, assimilated Jewish women. I have a clear vision of what needs to be done. I have a specific plan. But, it requires your support, and I urge you to consider making a generous contribution at this time. My vision: Fill Neve’s breathtaking Har Nof campus to capacity with young women yearning to learn and to return to their Jewish roots. My plan: I’ve retained two world renowned educators and leaders in Kiruv: Rabbi Avraham Edelstein and Mrs. Chaya Levine. They will work together with our beloved, accomplished founding Principal, Rabbi Moshe Chalkowski, to strategically use our schools and programs in the best, most focused manner, to bring our cherished, disenfranchised Jewish women back from the abyss of assimilation. Rabbi Edelstein, together with me, was a Founder and Director of the Ner LeElef Institute for Leadership Training and Morasha Olami. (Ner LeElef is the world’s largest source of Jewish leadership training.) Mrs. Levine, a Neve alumna, is the Director of Women in Kiruv (part of Ner LeElef) which supports women engaged in Torah education by offering connections, information, resources and inspiration to assist them in their work. We are about to embark on their exciting journey to have Neve succeed in ways and numbers that we never imagined. I can honestly write that I am tremendously excited! Neve provided life-changing and life-saving tuition relief for many of our dear students. We took them in, irrespective of their ability to pay, believing, as we do, of our obligation to provide every Jewish woman with the information necessary to make an informed choice as to their religious future. This is a debt filled with mitzvot & s’machaot, burdensome only in the sense that it prevents us from focusing on the future. We must provide Rabbi Chalkowski, Rabbi Edelstein and Mrs. Levine with the resources they urgently need to succeed. By eliminating this debt on the one-hand, and by raising additional funds devoted to programs, we will achieve my goals to increase Neve’s outreach, transforming even more lives, and to strengthen Neve’s finances. My dear alumnae and friends of Neve: I need each and every one of you to be my partner in this effort. Your contribution, whatever its size, is very meaningful to me. Below, I have listed your recent, generous giving history. As has been our pattern, we will use your contribution in the most effective way possible. I do want to provide you with this additional option: You can earmark any increase in your contribution to either retiring Neve’s debt or providing additional program resources. Both funds are dear to my heart. You will be my partner—your choice will be meaningful and reflect your preference in how best to assist Neve. Please go to www.nevey.org/donation and make your secure contribution via credit card or PayPal. In the YOUR MESSAGE section, you can type either PROGRAM RESOURCES or LOWER DEBT! On behalf of our students—past, present and future; on behalf of Rabbi Chalkowski, Rabbi Edelstein and Mrs. Levine and our educators; and, on behalf of myself, I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation for your generous support—past, present and future. Sincerely, Rabbi Dovid Refson Dean Please consider a new, generous donation at this time! Thank you very much! |
